PSK Modulation Simulation Video Tutorial

This video tutorial shows PSK modulation simulation using Orcad Capture software. The modulator is a Ring Modulator. The Message signal is in the form of binary sequences and fed into the secondary coil of the center tapped transformer of the modulator while the carrier signal is fed into the primary winding. At the other side of the ring modulator, PSK signal is generated. This is shown in graph plot.

PSK modulation Video Tutorial

The following video shows PSK modulation simulation in Cadence Orcad capture software. For the demonstration, a schematic diagram for the PSK modulation is drawn and simulated to obtain PSK waveform graph and its frequency spectrum. A ring modulator is used which is excited by the message binary sequence and impressed onto the 10KHz carrier sinusoid wave.

ASK Modulation Video Tutorial

Signal Mixing using JFET in AM Receiver: Orcad Capture Video Tutorial

This orcad capture video tutorial shows mixing of received AM signal with the locally generated carrier signal using J2N3819 JFET transistor to obtain IF signal. The modeled received AM frequency is 600KHz and the local oscillator carrier signal frequency is 1055KHz, therefore, producing 455KHz intermediate frequency(IF) signal. The waveform of the IF signal is plotted. The schematics can further be implemented into circuit board design.

DSB-SC Demodulation using Ring modulator: Video tutorial Orcad Capture

This video tutorial shows the DSB-SC demodulation using the Ring Modulator to recover the original message signal in Orcad Capture. The demodulation is followed by a sinple RC filter tuned to twice the carrier frequency. The message signal frequency is 1KHz and the carrier signal frequency is 10KHz. The Ring Modulator (also called Double Balanced Modulator) is made of ring of D1N4148 diodes. The DSB-SC, original message signal and the recovered message signal waveform and their FFT spectrum is also shown. Circuit Board Design can be implemented further from the schematic diagram.

AM(DSB-SC) generation using Ring Modulator: Orcad Capture Video Tutorial

This Orcad Capture video tutorial shows AM signal generation using Ring Modulator. The diode used for the Ring Modulator is D1N4148 diode. The input signal or the message signal of frequency 1KHz, amplitude of 1V is fed into the Ring Modulator also called the Double Balanced Modulator through the primary winding of the center tapped transformer and the carrier signal of frequency 10KHz, amplitude of 3V is fed into the center of the secondary winding. The second transformer is used to get the DSB-SC output. This schematics can further be processed for circuit board design.

AM modulation using BJT Transistor: Orcad capture Video Tutorial

This video shows how to circuit design of AM modulation using single BC108 transistor in orcad capture. The BC108 transistor is a NPN transistor. The frequency and amplitude of the audio signal is 10KHz and 2.5V and the frequency and amplitude of carrier signal is 2MHz and 0.68V. The audio signal is applied to the emitter and the carrier signal is applied to the base of the transistor. This circuit can further be implemented into circuit board design with cadence orcad pcb tool.

Orcad Capture Video Tutorial: AM Envelope Detector

This video tutorial shows the AM envelope detector used for demodulation of AM signal using Orcad Capture software. Here D1N4148 is used followed by RC low pass filter. The AM is generated using the ABM(Analog Behavior Model) with equation expression which is then rectified and low pass filtered.


Orcad Capture Video Tutorial: AM modulation with Parametric Sweep

This video tutorial shows AM modulation(DSB-FC and DSB-SC) in Cadence's orcad capture electronics design software. The carrier frequency is varied from 10KHz to 100KHz and waveform result is displayed. The modulation index is changed from 0.5 for DSB-FC to 1.5 to for DSB-SC to see the effect of over-modulation in AM. Then the standard AM signal circuit is designed and simulated.

Orcad Capture Video Tutorial: DSB-SC with real speech signal

This video tutorial shows how to modulate a carrier signal with a real speech signal from a text file to produce a DSB-SC signal using Cadence Orcad Capture + PSPICE simulation. In this modulation, the AD633 analog multiplier is used to obtain DSB-SC signal. The speech text file for this example is provided below and it is used in the circuit schematic using the VPWL_F_RE_FOREVER signal source as shown in the video. The carrier frequency used is 100KHz. The DSB-SC signal waveform and the spectrum is viewed. The designed circuit can be further processed to produce a printed circuit board.

Orcad Capture Video Tutorial: DSBFC and DSBSC AM Modulation

This orcad capture video tutorial shows DSBFC and DSBSC AM modulation with AD633 multiplier. The AD633 multiplier can be configured to generate both DSB full carrier(FC) and suppressed carrier(SC). The carrier signal frequency at 20KHz is modulated by the message signal of frequency of 1KHz. The circuit schematics and output graph is also shown below. This circuit can be further processed for circuit pcb board design.

Simulink Video Tutorial: Stardard AM modulation and demodulation

This video tutorial shows how to create a simulink model of Standard AM in matlab with coherent detection. Standard AM also known as conventional AM or simple DSB(double sideband) AM or DSB large carrier is a amplitude modulation technique in which carrier is sent alongwith the message signal and the both the sidebands of signal after modulation is transmitted. Hence the disadvantage of Standard AM is the increased power requirement at the transmitter. The benefit is that carrier signal can be extracted from the transmitted standard AM signal and thus non coherent receiver can be build, meaning that the receiver complexity is reduced.
The video below shows the AM modulation and demodulation, where the demodulation is of the coherent type, meaning that the carrier signal is generated by the receiver(and not extracted). The frequency of the message and carrier are 200Hz and 1500Hz respectively. At the receiver the butterworth LPF and butterworth HPF is used to recover the transmitted message. The HPF blocks the DC component that appears in the received signal.

Simulink Video Tutorial: DSB-SC Modulation and Demodulation

The following video shows how to create DSB-SC modulation and demodulation simulink model in matlab. It shows how to generate DSB-SC signal, check the waveform and also see the spectrum of message, carrier and DSB-SC signal. It then shows how to build a demodulator, verify the received signal waveform and their spectrum.
