The 8051 Microcontroller: Architecture, Programming and Application", ISBN: 0-314-77278-2(Soft) authored by Kenneth J.Ayala, Published by: West Publishing Company, Year of Publication:1991.
The book is meant for wide audiences, that is for students, computer engineers, electronics engineers, professionally involved, novice electronic designer freelancers and also as a textbook in academic institutions.
The book starts with historical facts based on survey on microprocessor and microcontroller, difference between microprocessor and microcontroller, example of various earlier 4bit, 8bit, 16 bits, 32 bits microcontrollers. Following this introduction on microprocessor and microcontroller, five chapters is devoted to Microcontroller Architecture wherein how data are manupulated, moved around and calculation on data is performed, stored, the assembly language, mathematical operation is described. The seventh chapter is on the Design of 8051 microcontroller. The last two chapters is on Application of 8051 microcontrollers where input device (keyboard), output device the display, interfacing the analog and digital world, the interrupt and serial data communication is described. All chapters includes summary and question at the end of the chapters. The appendix contains operational codes mneumonics, assembler and simulators instructions.
This book is helpful to quickly understand Microcontrollers. It is written in simple language and therefore is easy to understand. It contains theory, algorithm, codes, block diagram of how different components of microcontroller are connected together and has explained each components in details. Application chapter has described essential parts (the input, output and interfacing) to get started with microcontrollers.
